Nelson police are investigating after a teenage girl was assaulted in Stoke on New Year's Day.
The 14-year-old was walking with her 12-year-old sister when she was physically grabbed and inappropriately touched near the town library about 10.30pm yesterday.
She fought off her attacker, who was described as Pākehā, between 40 and 50 years old and of medium build with short hair.
Police said the two girls felt shaken after the attack and anyone with information should come forward.
