The husband of an Australian tourist seriously injured in a bungy jump in Canterbury says she is grateful for the help she has received.

Kirsty Moulder, 39, fell when her foot slipped out of the bungy attachment near Hanmer Springs on Friday.

Ms Moulder fell at least 15 metres into the Waiau River and needed surgery for shoulder and internal injuries.

Her husband, Rodney Moulder, says his wife wants to thank emergency services and hospital staff, as well as the staff at Thrillseekers Adventures, the company that runs the bungy experience.

Mrs Moulder remains in a stable condition in Christchurch Hospital and her husband says they will return to Australia once she is well enough to travel.
