A kayaker who went missing in Northland yesterday has been found safe and well after spending the night at sea.
Police said a man in his early thirties was reported missing at 8.50pm yesterday after he did not return from kayaking in Cable Bay.
Teams were out this morning searching for the man by air and sea.
He was found safe by a local boatie about 9.20am and brought to shore at Coopers Beach.
Coastguard spokesperson Georgie Smith said favourable weather overnight may have helped the kayaker.
The man had been wearing a lifejacket, and although he was cold and hungry, he was uninjured.
