Police have named the man who died in a van that was found submerged after it crashed into a bridge in Canterbury yesterday.
The body of Shane William Forsyth, 42, of Westport was found in the green van in the water of an irrigation race off Arundel Rakaia Gorge Road about 8am yesterday, they said.
The van became submerged there after crashing into the bridge at Rangitata Terrace Road.
The serious crash unit has been investigating and Mr Forsyth's death will be referred to the Coroner.
