A man has been critically injured in an attack that involved a tomahawk-like weapon at Point England in Auckland.
The 51-year-old received back and head injuries in the assault shortly before 9pm on Tuesday, and was in a stable condition in Auckland Hospital.
Police say up to three people may have been involved in the attack and a scene examination was being carried out on Wednesday.
