A teenager remained in critical condition in hospital on Thursday after being hit by a car while crossing a road in Golden Bay.
The 15-year-old Takaka boy was crossing State Highway 60 near Onekaka with his sister about 6pm on Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle heading towards Collingwood.
The boy was flown by rescue helicopter to Wellington Hospital.
Police in Takaka say the driver of the car is cooperating with the inquiry.
