The New Zealand government has confirmed a former Donald Trump staffer has been hired to help lobby for improved visa conditions for businesses working in the United States.

Reuters reported yesterday that New Zealand's Washington Embassy hired Stuart Jolly this month, citing documents filed with a US government database last week.
Mr Jolly worked as Mr Trump's campaign field director during the Republican Primaries. He joined the super PAC Great America, which backed Mr Trump, as its national adviser in May.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed today it hired Sonoran Policy Group - for which Mr Jolly worked - to provide advice and support about access to business and investor visas.
These gave companies that operated in the US streamlined visa access for their staff.
The Ministry said well-briefed and well-connected lobbyists could help promote New Zealand interests in Washington.
