Karin Ross, 51, was bashed to death in Spotless cleaning's car park in South Dunedin.

Merritt was sentenced today in the High Court in Dunedin, after he was found guilty by a jury following a trial last year.

Crown prosecutor Robin Bates said the Crown was satisfied with the outcome.

He said the prison term was set from a starting point of 17 years, but was reduced because of the defendant's autism and other factors.

The Crown had argued Merritt formed a strong dislike of his supervisor after she had laid complaints about his behaviour.

Merritt's defence said threats against Ms Ross were made in the heat of the moment.
