A man has appeared in court after a woman was sexually assaulted in a supermarket carpark in Hawke's Bay.

Police said the assault happened at a Countdown carpark in Hastings shortly before 9pm last night.
A man dragged the woman into his car as she walked past, and sexually assaulted her.
Officers said a 28-year-old man appeared in court today on a charge of sexual violation.
They have asked anyone who might have seen the woman or a man in a Silver Toyota saloon parked in the car park to contact them.
