The woman woke up in the early hours of 26 February, to a man standing above her with a bat.

She did not know how she got there, from Ponsonby in central Auckland, more than 20km away.

Detectives reviewing CCTV footage spotted a silver or grey car similar to a 2008 Ford Mondeo at 1.18am on Sunday.

They said it was turning right from Bond Street onto New North Road in the Kingsland area, 3km from Ponsonby.

A similar car was recorded going into the quarry at 1.45am and speeding away just after 2am.
