Police are trying to pinpoint the right car as they go through CCTV footage to track down the man responsible for the abduction of a woman from the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby.

CCTV footage of the silver or grey car, believed to be a Ford Mondeo, which police are now interested in.

She was taken on the Saturday night of the Pride Parade 11 days ago, and woke up in a quarry in Riverhead, to find a man standing over her with a bat.

The police yesterday released a picture of a car they said was involved, but now say that was the wrong one.

They have identified another car seen in Ponsonby, and think it is actually a silver or grey coloured Ford Mondeo they are looking for.

Police said it was a very nasty attack and they were intent on stopping the man responsible for it.
