Police investigating the sexual assault of a woman near Christchurch say they have heard from a man in a cowboy hat who was seen close to where she was attacked.
The woman was walking home from a concert at about 6.30pm on Saturday night when a man assaulted her. It happened near the Lincoln Events Centre.
Police were seeking the man in the cowboy hat seen on a sports field opposite the concert, but said he had come forward and was helping police with their enquiries.
Police still want to hear from a woman who helped the victim while she was outside Lincoln Primary School.
