Gregoire Bornand, 24, left his car at the Poulter River car park, near Mount White Station, last Tuesday, 7 March.

He was due to return on Thursday, but had not been seen since he left.

Police said they were concerned for his safety. A search and rescue helicopter was deployed this afternoon to search the river, track and nearby huts.

He was found near Mount White and was left to continue his fishing trip.

Sergeant Phil Simmonds said they had spoken with Mr Bornand to check he was OK.

"Police have provided the man with advice about notifying someone of his plans before heading out and letting them know if his planned return date changes.

"Police would like to thank all those who were involved in the search."
