More than 70 Auckland Library staff will lose their jobs in the council's "Fit for the Future" restructure.

An Auckland Council spokesperson said it wanted to ensure the library network responded to the changing needs of customers by moving to a more digital-led way of working.
Consultation was done with library staff. The proposed new model was expected to be finalised next month.
Libraries general manager Mirla Edmundson said no libraries would close and there would be no reduction in library hours.
Ms Edmundson said 104 staff applied for voluntary redundancy, and 74 had been accepted.
"Those staff will be leaving their roles between now and 30 June."
She said the redundancies equated to 48 out of 767 full time staff.
"We remain confident that the Fit for the Future programme will allow us to create a contemporary library service that offers better value for ratepayers and aligns our resources and services to changing customer patterns and meets the demands of a fast-growing and increasingly diverse Auckland."
