A body has been found under a bridge in Motueka, in the Tasman region of the South Island.
Police were told about the body, near Main Road, just before 6pm.
They said they were treating the person's death as unexplained, but it was not thought to be suspicious.
Police were formally identifying the body and would notify next of kin before referring the matter to the coroner.
