Police searching for a woman who has not been seen since Friday are turning their focus to a cliff in west Auckland.

Kim Bambus, 21, told friends she was going for a run in Piha before she disappeared.

Kim Bambus was last seen in Ponsonby.

She was spotted at the Countdown supermarket in the area, and her car was found parked near the entrance to Ahuahu Track on Log Race Road on Saturday.

Detective Inspector Hayden Mander said, based on information they have received about what she was doing in the days prior to her disappearance, they were turning their attention to the Mercer Bay cliff area.

Mr Mander said searchers had otherwise exhausted the tracks in and around the Ahuahu Track area.

Ms Bambus was last seen wearing a dark-coloured jacket, pink exercise top, black shorts and black-and-white Nike sneakers.

Ground crews have been stood down and police are now using drones to search the cliff faces at Mercer Bay, but say if no clues are found tomorrow, the search will be "re-evaluated".
