First phase of RWC ticketing nears end

2:55 pm on 21 May 2010

The deadline is about to expire for rugby fans to make purchases in the first round of ticketing for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

Organisers say the best opportunity to secure seats is with the venue and team pool packs.

Rugby New Zealand chief executive Martin Snedden says there has been a big rush for tickets this week and he is expecting a busy day on Friday.

All applications received by the 5pm deadline have an equal chance of success.

However, matches at Eden Park and those involving the All Blacks are oversubscribed, which means successful applications will be selected randomly.

The cheapest venue pack for Eden Park is $470 for five matches and prices rise by about $400 for each successive ticket category.

The cost of the four-match All Black pool pack starts at $430 and rises by about $300 for each successive category.
