SkyCity was justified in firing a casino worker after he authorised a payment of more than $300,000 to a player, the Employment Relations Authority has found.

In February last year, Keith Hayashi mistakenly believed an international player had been playing a wrong table limit for nine days.
Staff worked out she was owed $310,000, which he promised to pay her despite needing authorisation from the company's chief executive.
Later, staff found the table limit was actually correct and he was ordered to apologise to the player and tell her she was not owed anything.
She subsequently demanded the promised payment and eventually received it.
He was then fired but complained to the authority that it was unfair.
The authority has found in favour of SkyCity.
