Don Henry Turei junior was killed in a crash Near Te Kaha in November 2016, on State Highway 35 opposite Raukokore Marae.

A homicide inquiry was launched a few days later.

Police said at the time the death may have been gang-related and Mr Turei was run off the road on purpose.

The accused was charged with being an accessory after the fact of murder.

He will appear in Gisborne District Court today.
