One person has died and another is in a critical condition after a car collided with a taxi in West Auckland early this morning.

The Fire Service said the incident happened at 3.45am on Royal Road in Massey.
It said one person in each car was trapped and had to be cut free.
The taxi driver received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
