An Australian man has died after falling down a ravine while on a hunting trip in the Fox Glacier Valley.
Police said the 66-year-old man was an experienced hunter and was with his son, 33, in the Westland Ranges yesterday afternoon.
The pair were separated, and shortly after 1pm the son saw his father at the bottom of a ravine with injuries to his head.
He died in the ravine.
The son was winched to safety by a rescue helicopter shortly after 7pm yesterday.
