8:41 pm on 5 June 2017

An anonymous donor has gifted Massey University $3.4 million, thought to be the largest single donation it has received in it's 90-year history.

Massey Vice-Chancellor, Jan Thomas, said the money was donated to the Massey University Foundation, which supports students, staff and the development of facilities.

Jan Thomas said the donor, who asked for complete anonymity, requested the money be invested in a way that supports postgraduate scholarships.

Professor Thomas said she was in equal part amazed by the size of the gift and humbled by the generosity of the donor.
