Fog that is disrupting some flights in Christchurch this morning is not expected to fully clear until early this afternooon.
The airport's website showed about 20 domestic flights have been delayed so far this morning.
A spokesperson said the airport was open, but travellers have been advised to check with their airline for the latest information.
A MetService forecaster said because today was the shortest day in the Southern Hemisphere, there was not a lot of heat from the sun, which meant the fog may take longer than usual to clear.
The forecaster said the fog should be gone by early this afternoon.
