A man holed up in a West Coast house before being arrested by armed police.
The man had threatened to shoot an officer after police were called to a family violence incident at the property in Hector, between Westport and Karamea, last night.
Armed officer spent several hours negotiating with him after he hid in the house but the situation was resolved without incident, police said.
The man was arrested about 10pm and was in custody,
The family violence victim had already left the house, police said.
