A woman's death in Christchurch overnight is being treated as a homicide.

Twenty investigators are looking into the woman's death, police said.
The woman died at a property in Avonhead last night and the police said they are treating it as a homicide, although they believe it is an isolated incident.
They are asking anyone who was around the area at midnight last night who might have any information to come forward.
The police said they are speaking with witnesses and getting in touch with the victim's family.
A formal identification of the victim is still to be completed.
