Armed police who descended on an Auckland property this evening were looking for fugitive Rollie Heke, but have failed to find him.
Mr Heke, 36, traded shots with police after a car he was in was pulled over on the outskirts of Morrinsville last Sunday morning.
Police said they had reason to believe Mr Heke may have been at the Mount Albert address, and due to concerns about firearms cordons were put in place and people were asked to avoid the area.
The search was completed without incident but Mr Heke was not found, police said.
The police search for Mr Heke, and his former partner Irene Scanlon has been expanded to the entire country.
Police said they still hoped the pair would hand themselves in to police and that the situation would be resolved peacefully.
