The main burst on Johnsonville's Middleton Road near the Helston Road roundabout.
Water was shut off for about three hours, until 12.30pm, to several streets in Johnsonville and Churton Park.
The affected streets were Middleton Road, Waterford Drive, Silver Birch Grove, Bellina Drive, and Burdenvale Grove.
The water main burst just hours after a lightning strike cut power to homes in Johnsonville, along with the suburbs of Newlands and Paparangi.
About 10 properties were still without water, but were expected to be fully restored this afternoon.
