Air NZ awaits advice from Boeing on cracks

Following the discovery of cracks in the engine mounts of Boeing 767 jets in the United States, Air New Zealand says it's waiting for advice from the manufacturer.

American Airlines has confirmed cracks were found in engine mounts in two planes, and the American Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

Boeing says the cause of the cracking has not been established, but the company is likely to recommend airlines boost the frequency of inspections from every 1500 flights to every 400.

Air New Zealand, which operates five 767s, says it has not found any problems with its aircraft.
