Woman charged over road death

A Takaka woman who survived a crash that killed another motorist has been charged with drug-driving and causing the man's death.

Mathew Peter Dow of Canterbury died on New Years Eve after a car crash on State Highway 60 at Appleby, near Nelson.

The driver of the other car has been charged with causing his death while on drugs, injuring passengers, and driving with an insecure load.

She has also been charged with neglect of two children who were passengers in the car at the time of the crash.

The woman was released on conditional bail and will appear in Nelson District Court next week.
