Hawke's Bay Police are investigating two serious attacks over the weekend.

At 11.30 on Saturday morning a 19-year-old man and his eight-year-old cousin were set upon by three people riding two horses behind the library in Flaxmere.

The police said the offenders were in their early teens, wearing red and black clothing and bandanas.

In a separate case, the police are investigating after a second arson attack within a fortnight at Riverslea School in Hastings.

They said three or four youths broke into an office at about 11am this morning.

The police said they stole property and damaged a worm farm before setting fire to several areas including vegetation placed against another classroom causing moderate damage.

Meanwhile, police are looking for a man involved in an aggravated robbery of a fast-food outlet in Napier.

They said a man, armed with a knife, demanded money from the sole staff member at the Pita Pit outlet at 10am this morning.

The police said the man was given cash and ran off

They said he was wearing dark coloured clothing, gloves, and no shoes.

But he was wearing one black sock and one white sock and was carrying a black Puma backpack.

The police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the man or have any information.
