The name of the man shot dead by police in Rodney last week has been released.
He was 29-year-old Jerrim Marshall Toms of Onehunga.
Police said Mr Toms came at officers with a machete after a car chase between Onehunga and Rodney.
Police delayed releasing his name at the request of his family until after his funeral.
An Independent Police Conduct Authority investigation into the incident is under way.
