A large storm last Tuesday took out power to 180,000 Auckland homes and businesses.
Lines company Vector said between 500 and 1500 homes were still without power, but the number was fluctuating in changing weather conditions and more trees were brought down.
Emergency Management hubs that have been operating during the power outage are closing today as more homes are reconnected.
Anyone without power can access hot showers and cups of tea through Auckland's community pools and libraries.
Auckland Emergency Management has delivered 240 portaloos and nearly 20,000 litres of water to affected households and fire stations to be distributed to those in need.
