A senior Northland police officer faces a fresh charge of unlawful sexual connection.
Detective Inspector Kevin Burke has denied two charges of indecently assaulting a woman and two of unlawful sexual connection.
At the High Court in Auckland today, the Crown said the new charge had been laid.
Crown prosecutor Sam McMullan told the court police investigators were going through a considerable number of police files to get background of the alleged offending.
The matter will be back before the court in August.
Mr Burke has led a number of high-profile investigations in Northland.
