The Employment Relations Authority is meeting nurses and district health boards in a last ditch bid to avoid strike action.
Nurses are at an impasse with DHBs over pay and working conditions and have issued formal notice of two 24-hour strikes - one on 5 July and 12 July.
The Authority is facilitating talks between nurses and DHBs in Wellington today and tomorrow.
DHBs say they have contingency plans in place should the talks fail and the strikes go ahead.
Elective surgery and non-acute procedures will be rescheduled but all emergency and essential services will go ahead.
