The Defence Force has reviewed its procedures and reminded recruits about behavioural expectations, in light of sexual misconduct allegations at the Waiouru Military Camp.

Seven instructors have been stood down, and two commanding officers have been replaced, since a recruit came forward last month saying he had experienced bullying, harassment and sexual assault while in training.

The allegations are being investigated, but so far police have not been involved.

However, the Defence Force said it had reviewed army procedures, and had strengthened its internal supervision and support for staff.

It said all staff had been reminded of the military's expectations and the need to follow its code of conduct.

Defence said it had also briefed recruits about behaviour standards and the support that was available if they wanted to raise an issue.
