Detective Sarah Williams said the man was approached in the Countdown carpark on the corner of Queen Street West and King Street North, by a number of offenders and forced into the back seat of his car at about 4pm yesterday.

He was then driven around Hastings where money was withdrawn from his bank account at several locations.

The man is now recuperating at home from injuries.

The robbers are described as a 50-year-old Māori woman with straight black shoulder-length hair, and a young man.

They were reported to be driving a faded-black car when they initially approached the victim.
