A man who was hospitalised after a serious assault in Christchurch may be released later today.
The assault took place in Hornby near the mall shortly after midnight.
A cordon was up on Shands Road, but had since been lifted.
A police spokesperson said the condition of the 41-year-old victim had since improved.
An investigation is still ongoing.
