The search for two men missing after a diving trip in Southern Otago has been called off for the day.

The men, aged 23 and 51, went diving for pāua at Purakaunui Bay and were reported overdue last night.
Searchers have been focussing on the area between Irihuka, also known as Long Point, and Nugget Point.
The police dive squad has been called and a helicopter and plane have been used in the search, which will continue tomorrow morning at first light.
