Police officer charged with illegally tasering woman

An Auckland police officer accused of illegally tasering a woman will go to trial next year.

Sean Matthew Doak has been charged with assault with a weapon and presenting a restricted weapon.

The charges were laid in relation to an incident in September last year when he was on duty.

The 25-year-old made a brief appearance in the Auckland District Court this morning.

He was remanded at large and will next appear for a three-day trial in March next year.
