A male diver has died after getting into trouble off the coast of Mahia Peninsula this morning.
Emergency services were called to the Mahia Boating and Fishing Club at 10.30am this morning after the diver got into distress at Blacks Reef.
The diver was taken out of the water by diving buddies on to a boat and taken to the nearby boat ramp where they were met by emergency services for first aid, but died at the scene.
Police said the diver was a Wairoa man in his thirties.
