Tracey Stewart said on Facebook her 15-year-old daughter Mia Cooper went out on Friday night in the North Shore.

"Her phone hasn't been used and she hasn't been online since just after midnight on the same night after being with some people that she doesn't know very well. (Teenagers poor decision making )," the post said.

"People that know us well know that Mia has been battling with depression and anxiety for the past year and things have been tough for her so we are in despair not knowing where she is and if she is ok, we are absolutely sick with worry."

Police received a missing person's report on Saturday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nadene Richmond said a team of officers based in Orewa were following up on reported sightings of Mia.
