Pregnant woman suffers medical emergency on train

A pregnant woman has been taken to hospital after suffering a medical emergency on a Hutt Valley train.

The woman was on the 7am service from Upper Hutt when it happened.

A Wellington Free Ambulance spokesperson said the woman was taken to hospital in a moderate to serious condition.

The train was stopped at Manor Park station while the ambulance was on its way, and was 20 minutes late reaching Wellington.

The 7.47am service from Wellington and the 8.40am service from Upper Hutt were cancelled.
