A worker has been critically injured after the trench he was working in collapsed.

Emergency services were called to the scene in New Windsor in west Auckland just before 2pm.
Fire and Emergency says they spent about half an hour trying to free the man.
He was taken to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition.
