A man has been arrested and charged after a hit and run in Auckland's Mission Bay.
The police said a 15-year-old boy was walking to school yesterday morning when he was hit by a car that had gone onto the footpath.
He was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
Police said the driver of the car got out and fled but later handed himself in to the police.
Two other people were in the car at the time.
A 21-year-old man has now been charged with a number of driving-related charges and is due to appear in court today.
The teenager was kept in hospital overnight, but has made a good recovery and is expected to be discharged today.
