As Lime's second three-month trial in the city comes to an end, a report to the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee is recommending the scooter company keeps trading in the city for another 12 months.

The report also proposes that the maximum number of scooters - currently capped at 700 - is increased to 1000.

The council undertook an e-scooter survey, which found that 75 percent of people thought Lime trial had a positive or very positive effect on the city.

In comparison, Auckland residents showed mixed opinions towards the use of escooters in their city.

To date there have been more than 400,000 lime scooter trips taken by 100,000 people in Christchurch.

Each Lime Scooter is used, on average, seven times a day.

If the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee accept the recommendation, it will be put forward to the city council for consideration.
