Two people attending Christchurch's Electric Avenue festival last night had to be taken to hospital as a result of suspected use of the synthetic drug MDMA.
The police say they made four arrests - three for disorderly behaviour and one for drug-related offences.
There was a heavy police presence at Hagley Park, where last year 13 people were hospitalised after using contaminated party pills.
