Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a 14-year-old girl in Whanganui last night.

Police received a call from a person around 8.20pm stating they had harmed a family member.
The 14-year-old victim's body was found by police at a property on Niblett Street in Whanganui.
A 59-year-old woman is in custody and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the death.
