Photos: Vigils throughout the nation honour Christchurch terror attack victims

New Zealanders gathered at mosques, Islamic centres and public spaces in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Whangārei, Nelson and Tauranga in their thousands at the weekend.

A Book of Condolence was opened in Parliament; Prime Minster Jacinda Ardern, Governor-general Dame Patsy Reddy, Chris Hikins and Trevor Mallard all signed today.

Concerts and sports games in Christchurch and other cities were also cancelled.

The attacks on two mosques in Christchurch on Friday left 50 people dead and another 50 wounded.
