Arthur Brown, 26, was fatally shot between the neck and collarbone outside a block of shops on Vine Street in the South Auckland suburb in the early hours of 10 March.

Police carried out a number of search warrants in the region and arrested a 20-year-old man.

A number of firearms were also recovered during this morning's search warrants.

Police said two other people were talking to police.

"Today's arrest is pleasing and a great relief to achieve this result," says Detective Inspector Tofilau Faa Vaaelua.

"This has come about through some tireless work by the police team working on the case and assisted by information provided from the public, including anonymous reports via Crimestoppers."

The funeral for Mr Brown was held earlier today.

The arrested man is due to appear in the Manukau District Court this afternoon.
