Missing post being delivered

2:45 pm on 11 February 2009

New Zealand Post expects to deliver by Wednesday all the mail that a Wellington postie is accused of failing to deliver.

An investigation began in January after complaints that mail had not been delivered, some for several months.

New Zealand Post chief executive of postal services Peter Fenton says a large amount of mail was found at the home and vehicle of a postal worker.

He says most of the 5,000 items of mail have since been delivered and the rest will arrive on Wednesday.

Mr Fenton says a complaint will also be lodged with police.
